Nahuales are symbols connected with the Maya calendar and cosmovision. In this workshop, a local facilitator introduces the meaning, qualities, and visual elements of a chosen nahual before guiding you through the process of drawing and painting it.

The goal is not only to make a decorative image. The cultural explanation gives the symbol context so you can represent it thoughtfully and understand why it matters. This makes the experience different from the general Art Workshop, where participants are free to paint any Atitlán-inspired subject.

Lake Atitlán Art Workshop Itinerary

1. Meet the facilitator at the confirmed workshop location in San Pedro.
2. Receive an introduction to nahuales, their qualities and their place within Maya cosmovision.
3. Choose or confirm the nahual symbol you will represent and review its main visual elements.
4. Draw and paint the symbol with guidance from the facilitator.
5. Discuss the finished piece and take your artwork with you.

Booking and payment

The price is USD 23 per person. You may pay the full amount or reserve with a USD 9 deposit. The remaining balance is USD 14 / GTQ 105, paid in cash in Guatemalan quetzales on the activity date. The approved conversion rate is USD 1 = GTQ 7.50.

Cancellation, changes and weather

• Your deposit is refundable when you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled activity.
• You may change the date free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to availability.
• If the activity is cancelled because of weather conditions, you may receive a refund or transfer your payment to another activity or shuttle.
• If Cultour Atitlán Experts cancels the service, you will receive a 100% refund and one complimentary activity.
• A no-show is treated as a used service and is non-refundable.
